What trainers are suitable for school PE lessons?

Suitable Trainers for School PE Lessons

For school PE lessons, students should have the following trainers:

Key Requirements

  • Non-marking trainers - These are essential as they don't leave scuff marks on indoor gym floors
  • Trainers should be appropriate for physical activity and provide proper support
  • Separate trainers for indoor and outdoor PE may be beneficial

Important Notes

Canvas pumps/shoes are not acceptable for Physical Education lessons.

For specific sports activities, additional footwear requirements include:

  • Football boots - Required for football and rugby

General Guidance

When selecting PE trainers, look for:

  • Good ankle and arch support
  • Appropriate cushioning for high-impact activities
  • Secure fastening (laces, velcro, etc.)
  • Proper fit with room for growth

Please note: While trainers are required for PE lessons, they should not be worn as regular school shoes. Trainers must not be worn to school unless accompanied by a medical note, in which case they must be black.

For outdoor sports in adverse weather conditions, students may benefit from trainers with better grip and water resistance.
